Wers - Up/Down EP

Released 2018-10-21

The Up/Down EP is meant to be kind of a companion to Manual. However, that's only retroactivetly true. While I was making it, I had no idea what I was doing. A few of the songs sample and remix ones from Manual, and others are completely unrelated. I liked all the songs enough that I wanted to release it, but it wasn't until afterwards that I realized that it's related to Manual. Either way, here's the EP.

The timeline for the creation/release of this EP was also kind of strange. I finished Manual and released it sometime in October of 2018, then I created this EP in only a few weeks, and never released it. Then I decided to take down Manual and edit it, when it was rereleased in November. After that, Up/Down was never released until sometime in 2021 when I moved all my albums from Soundcloud to Bandcamp. Despite that, I've set the release date to when the EP was finished, which was back in 2018 (because I'm so early in my career that no one will notice) :)

Hello and Goodbye are weird, abstract tracks I made independantly from the main three songs and decided to add to the EP to bookend it. Hello samples a secret song from a very good band.

Up and Down are from the same project file. I had discovered a download for some SebastiAn and Justice drumloops and samples, and I was eager to test them out.

Newtork is the further continuation of Up/Down, but it was a different project file that I edited later to transition. The ending also has a loop from Pet Shop Boys for some reason. I tried to incorporate that loop into the actual song but couldn't do it properly, so I just stuck it at the end.

I think the EP works as a kind of aftershow for Manual. Just a little bonus section with some more neat tracks. The songs aren't the greatest, but then again nothing from this time period is any good. So it's either release them or let them rot in the depths of my hardrive.
