Wers - Pro(ject) Con(catenate)

Released 2022-07-29

Explaining this album requires a bit of a story... After I had finished my second album, Joy In Repetition, I had kind of a week-long brainstorm where I came up with a bunch of different future project ideas. I thought all the projects were great, and I wanted to work on all of them. After a few months, I had notes, possible track and album names, a few pieces of potential artwork, and tons of demos for all of them... In total I worked on like 10 different projects all at the same time, which proved to be a really, really horrible idea. One by one, I got burnt out on them and ended up scrapping them all, leaving behind way too many unfinished song ideas. I thought about just sweeping all of them into a folder to forget about but I still loved so many of them. So, I sifted through all of it, grabbed the best ones, cleaned them up, and recontexualized them to be all truly independant from each other. You could consider this to be a demo tape but I'd have to disagree. These aren't demos; they are full, short, songs.

Because of that, the songs mostly don't hold that much emotional meaning to me and instead exist only to show some cool ideas I had. As per usual, I liked using obtuse samples in these tracks to make them even weirder.

The original title for this album was going to be "Ideas Man", but I felt that was too narcisistic and instead decided to shift the focus onto the ideas themselves. More specifically, I gave a spotlight to the past projects that never got to be. This way, in some small form, they can still exist. To just fully explain the title, the unparenthesised text is "Pro Con", which is to mean that some songs are good, some are bad. If you don't like a song, it'll be over in a minute anyways...

Am I over-explaining this? I don't know. Listen to the album and come up with your own explanation. I'm not claiming mine is the correct one.
