EXIN. EX IN. EX+IN? IN/EX?

It kind of accidentally came about that I use my Disd alias to release more meaningful music. This project had purpose and meaning before I knew it did... The actual contents of the album in a way also came about accidentally. This album was during a large transitional period of my life, and I was working on many different projects at the same time. All while having my whole life rearranged. In the end, on an unknown date, an eclectic assortment of vaguely reminiscent tracks remained. All this is an artsy way of saying I don't know when I finished this album. It just kind of became done.

Most of the time, when I listen to music I don't pay attention to the meaning. I just like good music. Often times I feel a song can get bogged down in its "message", as opposed to focusing on being the best song it can be. So, if I'm going to insert any sort of meaning to my music, I'm either going to make it really subtle, or so specific and personal that it's imperceptable. I like to consider EXIN a simultaneous representation of how I feel about myself, and how I feel about the world around me, but not necessarily how those two things interact. Primarily, I would say this album is a love letter to ambient music. To be blunt, this thing is littered with references to my favourite ambient artists.

This album was a major step up for me after A Month In The Life. I utilized a lot more real life elements, and took several field recordings to gather ambience and foley for the album, as well as recordings of shortwave radio signals and vinyl crackle. EXIN is my longest major project, my most involved project, and it's part of something even bigger in more ways than one. The story of the creation of this album is an odd one too. The album began as ten or so different project ideas that were all worked on independently from each other, but were eventually and inevitably merged together. This album is probably also my most eclectic album, and for good reason.
